Privacy Policy
Limitation of liability. This policy contains limitations and disclaimers. By using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Cat Breed Identifier (“we,” “our,” or “the app”), developed by TQ Tech, collects, uses, and protects information when you use our Android application (package tq.tech.catid) and related websites (including cat-breed-identifier-app.pages.dev).
Important. The app is for general information and entertainment. It is not veterinary advice, a health diagnosis, a pedigree or registration certificate, a DNA test, or a valuation of any animal. Breed suggestions are visual estimates from a photo. AI can be wrong. You use the app at your own risk.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Cat photos. Images you photograph or pick, cropped in-app before upload.
- Saved scans. Identification records, notes, and favourites stored on your device.
- Ask AI text. Follow-up questions you send about a scan.
- Preferences. Theme, haptics, language, and onboarding state stored on device.
- Purchase information. Google Play processes Pro payments. We do not receive card numbers.
- Support email. Messages you send to tqtechofficial@gmail.com.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Usage events. Feature use, scan starts/successes/errors, quiz events (Firebase Analytics).
- Device information. Device model, Android version, app version, language, approximate region.
- Crashes. Crash reports and performance traces (Firebase Crashlytics / Performance).
- Quota identifier. A salted, irreversible SHA-256 hash of your device’s Android ID (SSAID), sent with identify and Ask AI requests so the free-scan limit (three lifetime identifications and three Ask AI questions) survives reinstall. We never send the Android ID itself. It is not an advertising identifier and is not linked to your name, email, or Google account.
- Network metadata. IP address and similar request metadata for rate limiting and abuse prevention.
2.3 Camera and photos
Camera permission is requested only when you choose to photograph a cat. Gallery uses the Android Photo Picker — you select a single image. Cropped images are sent over HTTPS to our Cloudflare Worker, which forwards them to third-party AI providers for that identification. We do not keep a long-term photo archive. Copies in History stay on your device. Identical images may reuse a cached identification result for up to 30 days (the cache key is a hash of the image, not a photo file we browse later).
3. How we use information
- Produce a breed estimate and related notes from the photo you submit.
- Answer Ask AI questions about a scan you already ran.
- Enforce free quotas and Pro fair-use caps.
- Unlock Pro when Google Play / RevenueCat confirm an active entitlement.
- Fix bugs and improve reliability using analytics and crash data.
- Respond to support email.
We do not use cat photos for advertising.
4. Third-party services
4.1 Identification backend and AI
Photos and Ask AI questions go to our Cloudflare Worker, then to AI providers (we may use OpenCode Zen and/or OpenRouter). Processing is for that request. Where a provider allows it, we ask that images not be used for training. Some providers may retain a request briefly under their own policies. We cannot delete copies those providers may briefly handle.
4.2 RevenueCat and Google Play
Pro is sold through Google Play. RevenueCat verifies entitlement. We never see full card details. US list prices: $1.99 / week (3-day free trial when Play offers it) and $9.99 / year. Your store may localise prices. RevenueCat: privacy policy.
4.3 Google Firebase
Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring, and Remote Config. See Firebase Privacy.
5. Data storage and security
- Local first. Scan photos, results, quiz scores, and preferences live on your phone.
- Temporary transfer. Cropped images leave the device to complete an identification.
- Quota / cache. The worker stores hashed quota counters and hashed identification cache keys.
- HTTPS for identify, quota, Ask AI, and related calls.
6. Data retention
- We do not operate a user photo library on our servers.
- Cached identifications expire after about 30 days.
- The free-scan counter against your quota identifier is kept so the three free scans cannot be reset by reinstall. Email us to request removal of that record.
- On-device data remains until you delete items, clear app data, or uninstall.
7. Your rights
- Delete scans in History; clear app data or uninstall.
- Email tqtechofficial@gmail.com for quota deletion or other data we hold.
- Revoke camera permission in Android Settings.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions in Google Play.
8. Children’s privacy
The app is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. International transfers
Our backend, AI providers, Google, and RevenueCat may process data in the United States and other countries.
10. Changes
We will update the “Last updated” date on this page. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
